Chok Dee Butterfly
Apr 21, 2025
I will never forget this beautiful orange butterfly I rescued from a building in Thailand, and the time we spent together. She was flapping around in panic against a huge floor to ceiling window. I quickly abandoned my attempts to catch her in my cupped hands, and held out my palm to her, inviting her to land. She soon clung to my little finger voluntarily, and I carried her down three flights of stairs and outside, where she was reluctant to leave her perch. Eventually I placed her on a flower, and wished her ‘chok dee’ or good luck, not goodbye.
I guess we were both grateful to be there in that moment, to be mindfully present and notice that our paths crossed for a reason.
